When the Open Beta of Battlefield 6 appeared on August 7, the number of users who are willing to join it simply was enormous and the queues into the servers started to skyrocket to even 200+ grand and even exceeded 250K in certain locations. This beta could be the largest the franchise has ever had as the devs were busy scrambling to handle such large interest.

Right after early access began, players were already facing long queues. Some reports said queue spots were hitting 210,000 or even 230,000. A player in the UK, for example, got into the beta around 9 AM and was put into a 140,000-player queue. Later, after restarting, the number had gone up past 200,000. Across forums and social channels, people shared similar stories, some being dropped back into queues as large as 255,000 just from trying to re-enter menus.

Developer Response and Server Expansion Plan

EA and DICE moved quickly to calm things down. The official Battlefield Comms account on X mentioned that queues were important at this stage to keep the experience stable, especially since this is their biggest beta yet. They also shared that they were already working on increasing server capacity in a big way, which should help reduce waiting times and improve access overall. Not long after, there were updates saying that queue numbers were starting to come down and times were getting better.

What Players Are Experiencing

Players have said they’re dealing with:

  • Very long wait times at the start because of how many people were trying to join.
  • Some crashes or bugs that caused them to get thrown back into even longer queues.
  • General frustration as the systems couldn’t quite keep up, even though the devs were clearly making adjustments.

Even with those problems, a lot of people are seeing this beta as a giant stress test that shows how excited the community is, and gives DICE real data to help prep for the game’s actual release.

The Battlefield 6 Open Beta has already achieved great milestones both in the number of players, and also in server pressure. Its creators have realized this and are in the process of ramping things up to ensure they satisfy the demand. As long as interest continues to gather in force in such a way, these initial lines may turn out to have been more in the memory than the battles which players came to engage.
