With release just weeks away, Battlefield 6 is already making many changes since the August open beta because of what players said. More than half a million people gave it a go on Steam, and feedback has forced DICE and partner studios to change systems. Movement, weapon balance, maps, and game modes are all getting tweaked, to provide a better smoother game and also to rectify, the mess made with Battlefield 2042. Here’s what is coming.
Beta Change List

1. Movement and Verticality Adjustments
The Game is slated for a worldwide release scheduled for on 10 October 2025.
- The beta session shed light on one large flaw: the pace of the game is just too fast. Many fans complained that it felt more like COD, meaning much of the tactical nature of Battlefield is taken away. Developers are changing a lot of things, which as follows:
- Sliding to jumping now takes a little longer; no momentum boosts whatsoever.
- Jump spam is discouraged: the more jumps you do, the lower the height is reduced, discouraging bunny hop exploits.
- There is now also the issue of an accuracy penalty; while sliding or jumping, a player’s shooting is far less accurate.
- The parachute now opens slightly slower, but it provides smooth control while using.
All of these changes are made to move the focus more towards positioning and timing, rather than chaotic, nonstop competing for movement.
2. Weapon Balance and Gunplay
Gunplay got some rework across weapons.
- Recoil and fire pattern tuned so that each weapon category feel more unique.
- Tap or burst fire more rewarding, instead of only spray bullets.
- Shotgun M87A1 got nerf, now need more pellets to get a kill.
- Time-to-kill (TTK) and time-to-death (TTD) still under looking, developers said maybe more tuning come later.
Aim is to give more reward for skillful shooting, less random luck.
3. Maps: Bigger, Better Organized

Map layout also cause frustration in beta. Some people found way to climb rooftops or glitch into edges, breaking the match balance. Now, developers doing changes:
- Exploit spots fixed, so players cannot reach rooftops out of boundary.
- Bigger maps added Mirak Valley and Operation Firestorm (reworked from Battlefield 3) will appear in Battlefield Labs.
- Objectives updated, with extra covers and clearer map boundary.
Producer David Sirland said also more large-scale maps are in production for launch version.
4. Modes and Player Numbers
Modes have new scaling to keep flow balanced:
- Rush mode now locked 12v12, though in Portal players can make bigger.
- Breakthrough support up to 64 players, depending map density.
- Small modes (TDM, Domination, King of the Hill) fixed to 8v8.
Idea is to make sure each mode feels properly balanced for numbers.
5. Classes and Custom Options

Classes got reworking too.
- Players can choose either standard loadouts or use cross-class weapons.
- Assault class has new perks like resistance to flash/stun, movement boosts, and tools like Deploy Beacon.
- Recon is more focused on intel role, with new “Spec Ops” path giving stealth takedown ability and passive spotting for team.
Looking Ahead
After its launch, Battlefield Labs will remain a testbed for new content starting with Mirak Valley and Firestorm. DICE stated updates would follow the launch quickly, and building upon player feedback.
Whether or not they can gain momentum against Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, whose beta begins October 2, who knows. But at least, Battlefield 6 looks to have a better launch when it rolls out simultaneously on October 10, 2025.
