Prabhsimran Singh had one very good season in IPL 2025, when he appeared as the top uncapped run scorer. He scored 549 runs from 17 games, scored four half-centuries, and even got a highest of 91, with a strike rate of 160.53. With these statistics, he was placed in eighth position in the net runs tally, an absolute indication of how Prabhsimran has developed with the Punjab Kings.
Guidance Under Ricky Ponting
One huge difference this year was the guidance he received from coach Ricky Ponting. Singh revealed that when Ponting assured him he will have a full run of games, it brought him peace to play cricket without worrying about getting dropped.
“Before the season, when a young player has that assurance, he can exclusively concentrate on improving his game. He provided us with space and confidence that we would be playing all the games,” said Prabhsimran.
That confidence from the coaching side enabled him to keep steady and play his natural cricket.
A Change in Mindset
Few years ago, he was getting out too early due to playing shots in a hurry, but in 2025, he changed his way of thinking. He said he took more responsibility this time, and that helped him.
With this, his position in the upper order appeared stronger, and he provided stability to the Punjab Kings.
Base Established in 2023

The shift in this strategy was already established in IPL 2023, when he scored his maiden century against the Delhi Capitals. Punjab lost early wickets that day, and Singh thought of remaining till the end and constructing an innings.
“After wickets went down, I started taking responsibility. After Sam Curran got out, I felt that I should take charge,” he said back then.
That innings changed the way people perceived him, not just as a force of backfoot batting but as one who could handle innings as well.
Enlarging His Batting Repertoire
By 2025, his batting approach had broadened. Analysts identify that he not only attacks in powerplay but also learned to manage the middle overs. With the flexibility of adapting to different parts of the game, he emerged a more holistic batter.
Prabhsimran Singh’s development is progressing step by step. From 2023, the year he first demonstrated maturity with the bat, until 2025, when he was one of the best players, the thread is responsibility and belief in himself. He has transformed from being merely an aggressive opener to a batter who can adapt based on the situation. With such growth, the next phase of his career, playing in an India jersey, seems much nearer.
