Ben Stokes led England to defeat India by 22 runs in the 3rd Test of the India tour of England 2025 to get a 2-1 lead in the India vs England series. After performing well in the first four days, India faltered once again on the last day. England held their nerves and dominated the whole of Day 5 at Lord’s, taking 6 wickets in two sessions. Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes shines on the last day with the ball for the hosts, while Joe Root does tremendous work with the bat on this difficult track to give an advantage to England in this series. India vs England 2025: England Beat India in 3rd Test at Lord’s by 22 runs

While batting first, England smashed 387 runs in the first inning thanks to an amazing century by Joe Root and a half-century by Jamie Smith. Bumrah took a fifer, and Nitish Kumar Reddy and Mohammed Siraj got 2 wickets each. In response, India also got all out on the same total of 387 thanks to KL Rahul’s yet another hundred and the 70s of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja.

Indian bowlers bounced back well in the 3rd inning to restrict the home side to 192. Washington Sundar picked 4 wickets on Lord’s turf, while Bumrah and Siraj got 2 each. England gave the target of 193 for India to chase in the 4th inning. However, India lost 4 wickets in the evening of Day 4, and Day 5 all belonged to England pacers. Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes took 2 wickets each, while Brydon Carse got 1.

England takes 2-1 lead in India vs England 2025 Test series

With this amazing win at Lords, England now has a 2-1 lead in this 5-match Anderson-Tendulkar 2025 Test series. England won the 1st Test in Leeds by 5 wickets thanks to a historic chase in the 4th inning. India bounced back strong in the 2nd Test at Birmingham by winning it by a huge 336-run margin. Captain Shubman Gill became a hero for the team with a double century in the first inning and 161 in the second. In the 3rd Test at Lord’s, England pacers again gave them the lead in the series by winning it by 22 runs at the end.

Now the India vs. England Test series is standing on a very exciting point where England needs to win only one out of the remaining two matches, while all matches from here become do or die for India if they want to win the series. India still has a chance to level the series by winning one match and drawing the other.
