From July 30, 2025, Zimbabwe and New Zealand will lock horns for a two-match Test series. For the crucial series, both teams have shaped their squads with well-maintained balance. Both sides have some incredible talents who can make an impact on the results of the matches. For Zimbabwe, it can be the experienced all-rounder Sean Williams.

The 38-year-old still has plenty of fuel in his tank. After the legendary cricketer Andy Flower, it was Williams who cemented his legacy for the Chevrons in the longest format of the game. In his decorated career, the left-hander scored 6 centuries and 7 half centuries in the Whites. In 22 test matches, Williams has scored 1875 runs with an incredible average of 48.07, including a 154-run knock.

Century against New Zealand

154, the highest number of runs he scored in a Test innings, was in an encounter against Afghanistan in 2024, last year. The Bulawayo-born has a century under his belt against New Zealand as well. In 2016, the last time when Zimbabwe and New Zealand confronted each other in a Test series, the dynamic cricketer smashed a ton.

The first match of the series turned into a one-sided game. New Zealand won by an innings and 117 runs. Zimbabwe tried his best to improve their batting in the second innings. Then, Sean Williams stepped into the field to score a stellar 119-run innings of 148. During the standout knock, the batter thrashed twenty-one 4s. In the upcoming series too, he will try to produce another eye-shooting innings against the Black Caps. Williams’ recent performance in the format is also worth a discussion.
